Admissions

We are an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. Carhill Integrated Primary School has adopted the Education Authority's policy for admissions. It sets

out the maximum enrolment for individual schools each year.

All prospective parents are asked to complete an application form and in the event of over subscription, criteria will be used to refine the school’s admissions. Application forms are available, upon request, from the school secretary.

All children who have reached the age of 4 years by the 1st July may be enrolled in Primary 1 for the following September. All applications will be treated on merit and in a sensitive manner.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

Year 1 Induction

From the beginning of their school life in Carhill IPS, we want children to feel happy, secure and important members of our school family. In order to ensure a smooth transition, children are invited to come to school for two morning sessions in June, to participate in play activities and to meet their teacher and peers.

An information workshop is offered to new parents, so that Carhill can support you through every step of your child’s journey into primary education. During this session, parents are given a learning pack that provides guidance and ideas that will scaffold your child’s learning during the summer. This is an exciting and important stage of your child’s life and we would encourage you to enjoy it together. In September the children will attend school each day until 1.50pm.

Foundation Stage teachers also liaise with our nursery and playgroup partners to maximise the potential for a smooth and positive transition.
